4 / Understand what you see

What do these numbers mean?

A familiar logo and a tiny price can make a meme coin look easy to understand. Before comparing it with another coin, check what each number describes. These four checks help you read the data without turning a price display into a forecast.

1. A small price needs a supply number

A fictional token priced at CAD 0.001 with 100 billion circulating tokens has a market cap of CAD 100 million. That is the price multiplied by the circulating supply. Many decimal places do not tell you whether a token is cheap or how far its price can rise. Try different assumptions in the meme coin calculator and watch how the required valuation changes.

2. Check the asset behind the ticker

Different assets can use the same short symbol. Read the full name and the provider’s asset record before comparing prices. For a token on a blockchain, also check its network and contract address against the project’s official information. A wrapped version can have a separate record from the original coin. A matching logo, name or ticker alone does not establish that you are looking at the same asset.

3. Keep the chart’s currency in view

A historical USD chart shows past prices measured in US dollars. A current CAD estimate uses a separately dated Bank of Canada exchange rate. Applying that one rate to every old USD price would not recreate historical CAD performance: the exchange rate changed too. Check the chart label, the price date and the FX date before describing a gain or loss. That daily reference rate is not a rate you can necessarily trade at.

4. Busy trading is not money waiting for your sale

The 24 hour volume is the total trading activity reported for that period. It is not a reserve of cash. Pool liquidity describes assets in a particular pool, and the amount received from a sale also depends on how much you sell and the price your trade gets. Start with market cap versus liquidity, then inspect an identified token’s pools. Neither a large volume figure nor a large valuation guarantees your sale proceeds.

For USDT to CAD, USDC to CAD, SOL to CAD, DOGE to CAD, PEPE to CAD or Shiba Inu to CAD, select the named asset and use the coin-amount input. Crypto prices in CAD use the latest price from CoinLore and a separately dated daily rate from the Bank of Canada.

Coin prices, the searchable list and daily USD history: CoinLore API. CAD exchange rate: Bank of Canada Valet API. This page records when data was retrieved. CoinLore's price response does not say when that price was last updated.

The coin list contains the assets CoinLore covers. It does not include every asset that exists. More than one asset can use the same ticker, so compare the full name and CoinLore ID. A logo alone does not verify a contract, transfer or token.

Want to inspect an individual trading pool by contract address? Use the separate token pool reader. A coin's overall market figures and the numbers for one pool describe different things.
